Fitted Sheet Sizes Explained: Minicot, Moses Basket and Cot Bed

Quick answer

Measure the mattress, not the cot frame. A moses basket needs a sheet made for that basket's mattress; a minicot typically uses a 120x60 cm sheet; a cot bed takes a 140x70 cm sheet. Mokee's Natural Seagrass Moses Basket Fitted Sheet fits Woolnest and Natural Sea Grass baskets but not the Classic Wicker Moses Basket, and the Toddler Bed Fitted Sheet is sized for a 140 x 70 cm mattress.

What size sheet fits a moses basket?

There is no universal moses basket sheet size, because baskets vary. Measure the internal mattress length and width in centimetres, then check the product page for the exact basket names it supports. A sheet that is too loose can bunch, and one that is too tight can pull the mattress corners up.

Mokee's Natural Seagrass Moses Basket Fitted Sheet is suitable for the Woolnest Moses Basket and the Natural Sea Grass Moses Basket. It is not suitable for the Classic Wicker Moses Basket, so check your basket model before ordering.

What is a minicot fitted sheet size?

Minicot fitted sheet size usually means a sheet for a 120x60 cm mattress, the common minicot and small cot bed size. If your mattress measures 120 cm by 60 cm, look for a 120x60 fitted sheet rather than a 140x70 one.

A 140x70 sheet will be loose on a 120x60 mattress. Loose fabric can ruck up under a baby, so match the sheet to the mattress dimensions rather than the cot name.

What does cot bed fitted sheet 140x70 mean?

A cot bed fitted sheet 140x70 is made for a mattress that measures 140 cm long and 70 cm wide. This is the standard size for many cot beds once they are converted to toddler beds, and it is the size used by Mokee's Toddler Bed Fitted Sheet.

If you are still using the cot bed in baby mode, check the mattress label first. Some cot beds start with a 120x60 mattress and switch to 140x70 later, so the sheet size you need can change with the mattress.

How do I check fit before I buy a 120x60 fitted sheet?

Measure the mattress on all four sides with a tape measure, not the cot frame. Write down length and width in centimetres, then compare those numbers with the sheet's stated size. If the sheet lists basket or cot names instead of measurements, confirm your model is on that list.

Elasticated edges help hold the sheet snug, but they do not make a wrong size fit. A 120x60 fitted sheet should pull down over the corners without lifting the mattress, and the fabric should lie flat across the middle.

Quick fit checkpoints

Measure the mattress, not the cot

Use a tape measure on the mattress length and width in centimetres. The cot frame can be larger than the mattress. Write the numbers down and take them with you when you shop.

Match the sheet to the basket or cot name

Some sheets list compatible models instead of measurements. Confirm your exact model is included before ordering. The Natural Seagrass Moses Basket Fitted Sheet fits Woolnest and Natural Sea Grass, but not Classic Wicker.

Re-check size after converting to a toddler bed

A cot bed conversion kit can change the usable mattress size. A 120x60 sheet may no longer fit once the bed is in toddler mode. If your mattress is 140 x 70 cm, choose the Toddler Bed Fitted Sheet.
