Mokee 120 Natural Cotbed Mattress: What to Know

Quick Answer

If you want a 120x60 cot mattress made with natural materials that balances support and breathability, the Mokee 120 Natural Cotbed Mattress is a strong choice—just confirm it fits your cot base and that you're ready for its natural care requirements.

Why Natural Materials Matter for Baby Sleep

Babies spend a lot of time on their mattress, so what's inside matters. The Mokee 120 Natural Cotbed Mattress uses a core of natural latex, lambswool, and coconut coir. These materials are chosen for their breathability and support, which helps regulate temperature and reduce the risk of overheating during sleep.

Natural latex offers resilient support that adapts to your baby's growing body, while coconut coir adds firmness and structure. Lambswool provides softness and natural temperature regulation. Together, they create a sleep surface that's both comfortable and supportive.

Understanding the 120x60 Fit

The 120x60 cm size is a common cot bed dimension in many nurseries, but it's essential to measure your cot base before purchasing. A mattress that's too small leaves gaps where limbs could get trapped; one that's too large won't fit properly. The Mokee 120 Natural Cotbed Mattress is designed to fit standard 120x60 cot beds, but always double-check your cot's internal dimensions.

When measuring, use the internal width and length of the cot base, not the outer frame. You want a snug fit with no more than a finger's width of space on any side.

Care and Maintenance: What to Expect

Natural materials require a bit more attention than synthetic ones. The organic cotton cover is breathable and soft, but it's not waterproof. To protect the mattress from spills and accidents, use a waterproof mattress protector. This keeps the core dry and extends the mattress's life.

For cleaning, spot-clean the cover with a mild detergent and allow it to air dry. Avoid soaking the mattress or using harsh chemicals, as they can damage the natural fibers. Regular airing helps maintain freshness and prevents moisture buildup.

Decision Rules: Is It Right for You?

• Firmness and Support: For infants, a firm mattress is essential to reduce SIDS risk. The coconut coir layer adds firmness, but always press the center and edges to ensure it's firm enough—if your hand leaves an indentation, it's too soft.
• Breathability and Temperature: If your baby tends to overheat, the natural latex and lambswool core, combined with the organic cotton cover, offers excellent breathability. Choose this mattress if temperature regulation is a priority.
• Allergies and Sensitivities: Natural materials like lambswool may trigger allergies in sensitive babies. If your baby has wool sensitivities, consider a hypoallergenic synthetic alternative or consult your pediatrician before choosing this mattress. Always check for allergy signs after the first few nights.
